Privacy policy

This policy explains what information Crawl Lab (the “site”) collects, why, and what your rights are. It is written in accordance with Quebec's Act to modernize legislative provisions as regards the protection of personal information (“Law 25”). This English version is provided as a courtesy translation; in case of discrepancy, the French version prevails.

Who operates this site

Crawl Lab is an independent project, published under this brand and based in Quebec, Canada. The publisher acts as the person in charge of the protection of personal information for this site. You can reach them via the Contact page.

The log analyzer collects no data

This is the tool's founding principle: log file analysis happens entirely in your browser. The files you drop — and the IP addresses or other personal information they may contain — are never transmitted to a server, never stored, and vanish as soon as you leave or reload the page. Crawl Lab has, technically, no way to access the content of your files.

What the rest of the site collects

Outside the analysis tool, there are two possible sources of personal information:

• Audience measurement (cookies). If you consent through the preferences banner, we use Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager to understand general site usage (pages visited, traffic sources). These tools set cookies and transmit data to Google.
• Contact form. When enabled, the form on the Contact page transmits the fields you fill in (name, email address, message) to our delivery provider Web3Forms, for the sole purpose of getting your message to us and replying to it. This data is not used for profiling and is never resold. As Web3Forms may operate servers outside Quebec (notably in the United States), submitting the form involves a transfer in that respect.

Cookies and consent

Non-essential cookies (audience measurement) are only set with your explicit consent, collected through the banner shown on your first visit. You can withdraw that consent at any time, as easily as you gave it, via the “Manage cookies” link at the bottom of the page.

Data retention

Audience measurement data is retained according to Google Analytics' default settings (generally 14 months), after which it is automatically deleted. No other personal data is retained by this site.

Transfer of personal information outside Quebec

Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager are operated by Google, whose servers may be located outside Quebec, notably in the United States. This transfer only takes place for visitors who consented to audience measurement. We only enable these tools with a provider offering recognized protection guarantees.

Your rights

Under Law 25, you have the following rights:

• Access the personal information concerning you;
• Have inaccurate, incomplete or ambiguous information corrected;
• Withdraw your consent to collection at any time;
• File a complaint with the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec (CAI) if you believe your rights have not been respected.

Privacy incidents

In the event of an incident presenting a serious risk of harm to the persons concerned, we commit to notifying the CAI as well as the persons concerned, in accordance with the obligations of Law 25.
