Crawl Lab was born from a simple observation in day-to-day SEO work: log analysis and crawl monitoring tools are, most of the time, paid, heavy to set up, or careless about what they do with the files you hand them. Files that contain IP addresses and the real activity of your visitors.

With the rise of AI search engines (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews…), understanding how these new crawlers explore a site has become a real SEO topic. Crawl Lab builds the tools this era needs: free, straightforward, and designed to never require trusting a third-party server with sensitive data.

SEO is changing with generative engines (ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Overviews). Tools have to keep up: telling AI crawlers apart, understanding what they read, measuring their visits.

Our method

The tools are written by technical SEO practitioners and tested on real production logs (tens of thousands of lines, Apache and LiteSpeed formats). Nothing is left to chance: bot detection relies on the official IP ranges published by each operator (Google, OpenAI, Bing…) to tell a genuine Googlebot from a robot spoofing its identity.

We prefer to say things honestly: when a data point cannot be verified, we don't make it up. Diagnoses are designed to be actionable, not to inflate a score. And the parsing code runs in the browser, which means nobody — not even us — ever sees your files.
